Maria Prymak

This is Maria Prymak. I chose to take her portraits in different outfits because she is very into style, makeup, photography, and fashion. Her apartment, which is a few minutes away from the American University Campus, feels as though you are stepping into "Maria's World". It is very put together and clean, but also has pops of color, just like Marias personality. She is very organized and neat but also has a very vibrant side to her. Since her new apartment feels very homey and represents a lot of what she likes, I chose to photograph her in her natural habitat.

Within the photos, you can see her goofy, outgoing, crazy side, but you can also see her serious, photo-taking side. She is a natural in front of the camera and isn't shy. These photos represent and show her confidence; which is something I really admire about her. Her love for clothes and fashion inspired me to do her photo shoot. Maria is a very unique girl, which is also why the pop of blue eyeliner was very descriptive of her personality as well. She has a very carefree, fun side which is why I really love the candid photos of her being herself and laughing. Of course, there is also the side of her who is very at ease and not nervous in front of a camera. This you can see in her more posed pictures that also really describe who she is as a person.

Through this portrait series, I think one is able to really feel and learn what Maria is like as a person. Not only through her facial expressions in the photos themselves, but also through the backgrounds where you are able to see her house and the kinds of things she owns and decorates with.
